Upon joining the server, if you're not already subscribed to or have the addons you're forcing the player to download you should see yourself downloading workshop addonsĪnd then for those of you who sound more like option 2, I would recommend watching the tutorial linked below that will show you had to create a resources file for custom content. Once done, save the file and then restart your server. In this new file you need to create the following for each addon ID resource.AddWorkshop('IDHERE') so for example resource.AddWorkshop('391383735') - You need to do this for each addon ID, one per line. You now need that list of addon ID's for this next step. Once you've got your list of addon ID's you want to go to the file manager in the control panel and navigate to garrysmod -> lua -> autorun -> serverĬlick create new file, and title the file a For example - At the end of the URL you can see the ID which in this case is 391383735 If you're in Steam looking at an addon on the workshop right click on the page and select copy page URL, and then paste it into a browser. If you are option 1, and you would like to force players to download certain workshop addons when connecting to your server you need to do the following:-Ĭreate a list of all the ID's of the addons you want your players to download. None of my addons / custom content are from the workshop, and I've separated the content (models/materials/sounds) from my addons into separate models, materials and sounds folders within the Garrys Mod folder. I don't use any custom models or materials that I've uploaded into new models and materials folders within the garrysmod folder. All of my addons / custom models and materials that I use on my server are from the workshop. You need to establish which one of the following options you are:. However, FastDL has been rendered fairly useless in the past year by the introduction of workshop that most people are now using for their custom addons, maps and content packs Setting up FastDL on our Garrys Mod servers is easy to do and can be as simple as running the fast downloads sync in the control panel, and then removing the // from the beginning of the sv_downloadurl line in the server.cfg file. Within Source based games such as Garrys Mod, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike and so on there is something called fast downloads / FastDL.įastDL was introduced into source games to give server owners a faster way to deliver custom content to their players which would mean they were not limited to the 30Kb/s download rate that Source is limited to.

While the finish and design on the 870 is sleek and solid, the 500 has some exposed mechanics and a strange slotted lifter design that I just don’t like. When racking the Mossy 500, it feels like it’s about to come apart. When you rack the 870, the gun feels solid and well-built. Compared to a Mossberg 500, for example, the gun is head-and-shoulders above the competition. Then, when you put the gun up against some competition, and you start to realize just how good you have it. It’s the same Rem 870 we’ve come to know and love, and it feels as solid as ever. The blued steel of the receiver and bolt both feel silky smooth, and I can’t find any signs of errant tool marks or rough patches. While the stock and forend might not seem to be of the highest quality, there’s no doubt that the action itself is up there with what we’ve been seeing for ages. It fits with the price tag and the overall style of the gun though, so I’m not complaining. The forend of the scattergun is a minimalist design, using a rough textured plastic as the sole ingredient. Out front, Remington seems to have skimped a little. At the top of the stock Remington has crafted in a good-sized comb that gives the shooter a solid cheek rest when aiming the gun, rounding out the fine design of the rear section of the firearm. Most of the stock is the standard slick black plastic, but there are some panels fitted into the gun around the grip area that are made of a squishy, grippy rubber material that give the shooter a much more secure hold on the gun.Īlso included is a rubber recoil absorbing butt pad, which is damn near required when shooting a shotgun this light - the gun weighs only a hair over seven pounds. The latest incarnation of the 870 uses the same style stock as the newer Remington 700 rifles. But for $350, you still get some nice features. This model is the least expensive version we could find, figuring that if there are any cracks starting to show in the old girl, they’d be most apparent in the lower-end varieties.
